we found a place
called it ours
made it our secret hideout
for us and only us
there was a bench to call meetings upon
just a plank of wood
yet still a bench worthy enough
for the greatest of clubs
the greatest swing known to man
just a simple, sturdy vine
a bridge to cross a great pond
simply branches placed next to each other
and a moderately sized puddle
all these childish games and inventions
maybe they weren't so childish
for all any adult that is poor and needy wants
is to turn the nothing that they have
into something wonderful

true story. this was an actual hideout me and some of my friends created. I came back to it this year after a hard economic time in my family and was like "whoa." didn't realize so many of the games we played reflect what we want later in life.
